Printable Fundraising Badges

Posted by Online Fundraising

In this mile-a-minute internet savvy world it is easy to forget that not everyone will see your March for Babies Facebook app or your e-mail signature badge. After the walk last year you said:  “@marchforbabies, sometimes you need some honest to goodness paper reminders.”  Well, we could be paraphrasing that a bit, but your message came across loud and clear.

On our spread the word page we now have printable badges in both postcard and business card size.  Print them, write in your user name that will link people to your personal fundraising page, hand them out and you’re good to go!  These just may be the gentle paper reminder that puts you over your goal!

Be a Hero for Babies Day

Posted by Linda
July 22 is Be a Hero for Babies day!

July 22 is Be a Hero for Babies day!

I won’t watch a scary movie by myself, I’m deathly terrified of spiders and am already teaching my son to fear motorcycles. No hero by any standard.

But this, I can do: go one day without my skinny latte, bring my own lunch to work, skip pizza Friday, have date night at home…

That’s all it takes to be a hero for a little baby.

July 22 is “Be a Hero for Babies” day and starting today, our friends at Farmers are doubling every gift to the March of Dimes.

You can give as little as $1.99 and they’ll match it. And when you’re done, you can pick up our avatar (the cute picture above) and show off your new superhero status to your friends on Facebook or Twitter!

I know you worked hard for March for Babies. But the fight goes on for babies born too soon or very sick. Please give your $1.99 today. Or tomorrow. Don’t wait to long though – Farmers’ match is only good through the 22nd.

What can you give up today to save a baby?

Update 7/20: Only three days left. Time to get out your cape – or your credit card. Be a hero for babies, I know you have it in you!

The twitter challenge

The 100K Twitter challenge!

Hugh Jackman, who tweets as @RealHughJackman, has offered to give $100,000 to the charity of choice of the tweeter he feels makes the strongest, most heart-felt case. In 140 characters or less that is.

Thousands of people have already sent their tweets – among them many March of Dimes supporters. Thanks, everyone! Hugh’s announcing the winner on April 24, so get your tweet in now! Tell Hugh and everyone else why this cause means so much to you!

Looking good and doing good… Hugh Jackman certainly is the total package!

UPDATE:  Wondering what to Tweet?  Here are some examples:

@RealHughJackman Every waking moment I have with my babies I’m thankful for March of Dimes research.  We need your support to save more babies.

@RealHughJackman My kids walk, run, laugh and play thanks to March of Dimes efforts!  We need your to help give every baby a healthy start.

For Sweet Little Madeline

Posted by Linda

Like a lot of people, I’ve become addicted to following the life of little Maddie and her family on mom Heather’s blog The Spohrs Are Multiplying.

This family had more than enough scares after their daughter was born 11 weeks too soon. Then came the tweets from the doctor’s office, and the ambulance and the hospital… Sweet little Madeline Alice Spohr died last night. She was only 17 months old.

There is just one other thing as heart wrenchingly sad as the death of a child, and that is the parents who are left behind. My heart breaks for Heather and Mike.

Heather is a March of Dimes Mom. She, Mike and Maddie were getting ready to walk in LA on April 25th. Wherever you’re walking this year, please take a couple of steps in honor of their beautiful little girl.
