Born 12 weeks early and weighing only 3 pounds, Aidan’s story begins like too many others. Watch his family explain his desire to give back and help other kids as the March of Dimes 2014 National Ambassador.
This is Aidan’s story.
Exciting news! Singer Troy Cartwright is generously donating the proceeds and tips from “Change the World” to the March of Dimes in honor of our 75th anniversary. Troy is proud and excited to be supporting the March of Dimes:
“My older sister was born premature and received care in a neonatal intensive care unit, an idea promoted and advanced by the March of Dimes. It is a real honor for me to be able to give something back to an organization that has provided me and many other families so much joy. I don’t know where I would be without my big sisters and I know there are millions of other little brothers and sisters who feel the same way.”

The two times I was expecting, the question I heard most often was, “Are you hoping for a boy or a girl”? It was a very typical question at a time when determining the baby’s gender before birth was less routine. I truly had no preference, and my response was always, “As long as the baby is healthy, it doesn’t matter.”
When I came to work for the March of Dimes and became more familiar with all they do, something dawned on me. I realized that my hope of having a healthy baby had been their hope, too. I was touched by the thought that this foundation has been devoting its research and programs to help my babies begin healthy lives. And in the event they had been born too soon or sick, treatments had been developed to give them a greater chance to survive and thrive. Absolutely nothing could mean more to me. Nothing in the world.
With Mother’s Day approaching, I can’t help thinking about the millions of babies born each year, and how the March of Dimes supports each of them through its 75 years of research, education, vaccines and breakthroughs. And what a meaningful gift it would be to honor a special mom by making a donation to help continue this lifesaving mission.
For moms. For babies. For health. For hope. For generations to come.
Al Roker meets with March for Babies supporters this morning at the Today Show
What an exciting day! March of Dimes supporters, including our 2013 National Ambassador Family and a crowd of more than 100 volunteer parents, babies, and children all wore March of Dimes signature purple color as they visited the NBC Today Show in Rockefeller Plaza early this morning. Al Roker, weather and feature anchor of Today, spoke to them about March for Babies, the March of Dimes number one fundraiser, which will take place in most areas of the country this coming weekend of April 27-28.

It has been a very exciting day for March of Dimes National Ambassador Nina Centofanti! She is in Dallas attending pre-race festivities for tomorrow’s running of the FedEx #11 March of Dimes car at Texas Motor Speedway. Dressed like a driver herself in a special FedEx team fire suit, Nina got to introduce herself to Danica Patrick! In support of March for Babies, Nina joined FedEx in asking fans to vote for their favorite March of Dimes paint scheme. Nearly 30,000 votes were cast and the winning design for this weekend’s “FedEx No. 11” car will debut this weekend! Watch it in action Saturday on FOX at 6:30 PM CST, and see the video below of the car being wrapped for the race!
When you donate to the March of Dimes, you help babies and families! Rest assured that every dollar you give is greatly appreciated — and used wisely. Watch this video to find out where your money goes, and be sure to share it with your friends and March for Babies donors. It’s important to remind them how hard their donations are working!
Yesterday was an exciting day for our National Ambassador, Nina Centofanti! She traveled to DC with her family and was joined by Dr. Jennifer L. Howse, President of the March of Dimes, and Bill Fitzgerald, Vice President and General Manager of GE Aviation. She toured the White House, saw the West Wing, and even met President Obama! It was a day this special 8-year-old girl will never forget.

As I gear up for March for Babies and start asking for donations, it helps me to keep the WHY at the top of my mind. Life gets busy. My schedule gets hectic. But what keeps me energized and motivated is remembering the reasons why I can never stop reaching out for funds.
…every year more than a half million babies are born too soon.
…prematurity is the leading cause of newborn death.
…babies born just a few weeks early can have serious health problems and lifelong challenges.
I know that the money I raise will help moms carry their babies for at least 39 weeks — and carry them home!
I’ve already registered, created my emails and made a donation (putting my money where my heart is!) to show my potential donors how much this means to me. I’ve also raised my goal to raise hopes for babies and moms everywhere! Healthy babies are the greatest gifts of all. I give thanks every single day for my two children, and it spurs me on to help give this gift to every expectant mom. If you haven’t registered, please do. And always remember the WHY, because babies will always need us.
