march for babies blog
Each year, WellPoint (the nation’s largest health benefits company) encourages their associates to participate in Community Service Day. Lucky for us, March of Babies is an event chosen by WellPoint given our shared goals to improve the health of families.
On Saturday, 400 WellPoint volunteers helped with everything from set up to clean up at 25 sites across the country. And…in Los Angeles, Leslie A. Margolin (President, Anthem Blue Cross in California – a WellPoint affiliate) led a team of 200 more WellPoint volunteers who walked and fundraised.
And…Anthem Blue Cross in California is a $50,000 sponsor in LA. Three great ways for our friends in the health care industry to partner with us for babies! Thanks, WellPoint!
Congratulations and thank you to Nancy O’Dell (Access Hollywood), a long-time March of Dimes Mom, who just released a new book for moms-to-be.
With a good dose of humor, Nancy shares her experiences of what she didn’t expect when expecting her own baby. Healthy, beautiful Ashby is now 22 months old. On the TODAY show last week, Nancy talked about how being a March of Dimes spokesperson made her more aware of ways to prepare, such as taking folic acid.
March for Babies helps raise vital funding for programs that educate women about how to have a healthy pregnancy. Nancy and other Hollywood Moms are teaming up – and you can help too. Donate to their Los Angeles team to honor a mom-to-be in your life!
I wanted to share this little heart-felt video with you. It’s a message from Sherri Shepherd, co-host of ABC’s The View and a big supporter of the March of Dimes and March for Babies. Did you know Sherri has been walking and raising money for several years? If you’re lucky enough to live around there, you can walk with her in LA in April.
March for Babies is a special cause to Sherri. Her son, Jeffrey, was born 15 weeks too soon in 2005 and spent many long months in the NICU. He has a 4th birthday coming up, is absolutely adorable and doing very well!
Sherri is walking for her son. And because she wants to help make sure other moms and babies won’t have to go through what they did.
Thank you Sherri! We love you!
