Help us turn the White House purple this January!

Posted by Linda

The volunteers and supporters of the March of Dimes have launched an exciting effort to light the White House purple on January 3, 2013 as a symbol of hope for premature babies. The White House is special to the March of Dimes because our founder was President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who established our organization in 1938 during his second term in office. In the 20th century, the March of Dimes galvanized America to defeat polio. Today the March of Dimes is working to bring hope and support to the families of premature babies. We fund research, education, vaccines, and breakthroughs to give every baby a healthy start in life.

To turn the White House purple, we need to secure 25,000 signatures on an online petition to support our request. Please go here and sign the petition — and encourage your family and friends to sign as well!

My daughter was born at 24 weeks and fought for her life for 156 long days. I am thankful that she is alive and doing well. Just a few years ago that would not have been possible. Please support the March of Dimes as the continue to improve the care and lives of babies born early.

My son was born 5 weeks early and spent over 3 weeks in the NICU. I have a nephew that was born 8 weeks early. Both boys are healthy and doing well thanks to the early care they received. I also had a nephew that was born before 32 weeks and sadly passed away in his first 24 hours of life. I am signing this petition in his memory and for all the little warriors currently in NICUs fighting for their life.

In support of all our babies born with the need for “extra special care.”
