Family Teams gearing up for 2009!

Posted by Volunteers

Hi and welcome! You’ve come to the right place! As we move into 2009, we are gearing up for another successful year for March for Babies Family Teams!

My name is Cathy and I work for the National Office of the March of Dimes as the Director of Family Team Development. I am joined at the National Office by Kathy, Director of National Promotions and Events. Quite simply, our job is to help make sure Family Teams are growing and having a good time! We work with March of Dimes staff in chapters throughout the country. We also have the opportunity to work with lots of wonderful volunteers too!

Together, we will host this blog site for you! Whether you are a Family Team Captain, a member of a Family Team committee, or a newcomer to the “world of Family Teams”, this is the place to visit!

Very excited to read more about the Family Teams. This will be our family’s first year walking with our own preemie, a 33 weeker. Chloe is now a year old and happy and healthy! :)

I was just wondering, I have had a team last two years, and I know there is a little glich with team captains seeing their team page until the first week of jan… will it be ok to re-sign up my team in order to get the 25.00 from farmers. Or will that mess anything up with my current team page?

Hi Cathy and Kathy. Wow! Your new March for Babies site is awesome!!! Our Joshua turns six in two weeks (born a micro-preemie at 23 weeks) so we’re excited to celebrate his birthday – blessed with his good health and happiness – as well as the kick-off of March for Babies 2009! Looking forward to tuning into your blog and to another successful March for Babies campaign. Go Family Teams!

hello there,
I am a new walker and team captain. I am attending the Lakeland ,FL walk on 4/25/2009.

Both of our sons were preemies. Brody came 2 months early on July 14,2005. He weighed in at 3lbs 150z. Wiley came soon after on Nov 9, 2006 and was 3 months early.he weighed 2lbs 7oz.

We currently are awaiting licensing through Heartland for Children. We will be becoming foster parents and adding 2 sibling girls to our family of 5 .

Lots of stuff to do in 2009 and we’re excited to kick of March for babies!

thanks a bunch,
Heather & Duncan Blalock

Hello all,
This is my first year in the walk.
we’ve decided to join in Memory of my son who was born last
October 16 weeks early.
Unfortunately he only made it 3 1/2 weeks.
If anyone has any tips on how to make this a
successful walk for us please share. Im already
having problems with our log in and i dont want to
get discouraged so soon

This is very exciting to me as my neice Jaleesa Jones of Starkville, MS was a preemie weighing only 1lb 10 ozs when born. Today she is 20 years of age and she actually won a full track scholarship and is in college doing very well. We as a family are definitely in support of this effort and encourage others to join the cause.
