The Results Are In!

Posted by Linda

Doesn’t March for Babies ’08 feel like ages ago? It sort of was. Our walk (my first!) in White Plains was in April. And here we are, getting ready for another amazing March for Babies. But first things first. Because I’ve got some numbers I just have to share…

You rallied your families, your friends and your co-workers and you walked – more than half a million of you! You walked in the rain in New York. You braved the morning chill in Baltimore. And you took out the sun block in Kansas City. You walked in places I’ve never heard of (sorry about that). You walked a total of 3 million miles. Let me repeat that for you: 3 million miles! If my math is not too far off, that’s something like 120 trips around the world – or 6 trips to the moon and back!

It’s only natural to get shy asking for money (I know I do). But when you’re asking for babies, apparantly not so much! Here’s my favorite number: you raised $115 million in March for Babies ’08! And that money will go a long way helping babies and their families.

May I just say: wow! And, thank you.

Oh, and just so you know… you kind of raised the bar there for 2009! Are you psyched yet?

Hello!! Our law firm is looking forward to having another team for March for Babies 2009. Will the walk be in April again for 2009? We are setting up our charitable giving schedule. Thanks so much!

Hi Roxanne! It’s great to hear you will be joining us again! March for Babies takes place on different dates throughout the country, but most are in April. You can activate your account for 2009 and see when your team is walking. Or you can use the “Find Event” feature on our home page – just type in your ZIP code.

I was wondering, I set up a page to get donations, but even if no one donates on my page, can I still walk on the date? I sent a bunch of emails and I am hoping and praying to get donations, but I am just wondering if I can still walk without any? I joined a team already like I said…

Hi Kimberly! So you’ve already set up your personal fundraising page, that’s a great start. If you don’t hear back from people on your e-mails right away, don’t worry, you have plenty of time. Why not start by making your own donation to your walk, it may motivate others? And that way, you know whatever happens, you know you can still walk.

When it comes to fundraising, hoping and praying may not be the best strategy. Asking is. Don’t be shy, you’re not asking for yourself, you’re asking for a great cause: babies. Ask in person, send letters and yes, e-mails too. And take some time exploring our Web site to find other tips and tools to get the word out. Like an e-mail badge, or animated e-cards.
